A historic work object becomes a functional coffee kitchen with character
The original workbench carries a patina that immediately tells the story of long and careful use. Over two centuries it was maintained, used and preserved. That surface is direct evidence that numerous high quality wood projects were realised on it. Rather than hiding that story, the project turns it into the central character of the new object.
GFELLER DESIGN transformed the bench into a fully functional coffee kitchen and deliberately placed the tension between old and new at the centre of the concept. The historic structure was complemented by a stainless steel top, sinks and an integrated heat zone. The result is not a nostalgic piece and not merely a design gesture, but a robust functional object with clear architectural and emotional force.
